Away from the village centre, but close enough to take a gentle walk to choose your morning croissant, looking over the fields and forest to the line of the Pyrenees, is a tiny self contained hamlet with an amazing sense of identity….  it is a part of the village,  but the houses here are built around their own little village square with their own church tucked to one side.  It is a bit like stepping back in time, the hamlet has its own, yearly fete and everyone knows everyone – it is also one of the most welcoming places we have ever come across…some hamlets can be inward looking – not this one….  to celebrate this year’s fete the hamlet built their own bar, dressed up as Asterix, Obelix and appropriate followers and came down to take over the main village to the sound of Occitane music ….. it was a fabulous fete, we all had a seriously good time and, above all, everyone was welcomed and encouraged to join in – over 500 of us!!!   A truly gorgeous place … full of community spirit and somewhere Jennifer and both said we would be very happy to live …

This gracious property was the village farm, and it is crying out to be the French hideaway of your dreams.  We have priced this property thinking of what we would want to spend on it if either of us bought it… for example, it is not just a farmhouse, there is also a stone built hay barn, not attached to the farmhouse but to the a hamlet church and facing the flat, then sloping land that is part of the property.  It’s just crying out to be a summer kitchen, dining room and pool house overlooking the pool –  that isn’t there yet – on the large area of flat land.  We imagined it with a surrounding terrace area planted with mediterranean plants – maybe lavendar, rosemary, possibly a fig tree for shade – and with a view that will take your breath away…..
The farmhouse itself is immediately liveable, generous sized bedrooms, two garages, living and kitchen space plus bathroom space –  but we can’t believe that anyone wouldn’t want to turn the old animal barn, which is a part of the house, into something truly spectacular….. it’s a huge space and could easily become the country chic kitchen and living/ dining space that we all dream of ….. the same feeling grabbed us at loft level… again a big space, wonderful original beams – just longing to be updated to become whatever you want it to be…..
The ” bones ” of this property are magnificent, the potential awe inspiring….  it’s the sort of property lucky people bought 20 years ago and the rest of us just wish that we had their luck….  this property is one of the very rare opportunities to join that happy band  –  to buy a truly fabulous property in a gorgeous, and very special location, and to realise its potential and own a property that will be the stuff of dreams….

To precis – Jennifer and I both feel that this is a fabulous buy, huge value for money  –  its  “edge of village”   location gives you the best of both worlds and you have the ability to be a welcomed part of a small community that will give you a lifestyle that we all aspire to – safe, secure, but also fun… the climate here is joy and, in an area that is one of France’s best kept secrets this is an area that is virtually undiscovered….  Jennifer and I would both love to see this property in time, potential realised, worth very serious money, and with happy owners who have enjoyed every day of the journey to the realisation of their dreams ….
