This is one of my utterly favourite houses in this village – it’s just down the road from where I live , and if I wasn’t seriously happy where I am, this is the house that I would be buying. It belongs to a friend of mine and I have always understood why this is the house that she chose.  I’ve always believed that this was part of the Chateau properties … why ? Well, the original features are of a far higher quality than is “normal ” for a house in a village, it is within the Chateau envelope with the Estate Manager’s house nearly opposite;;;;; It’s a house with a, generous layout, double doors unto the sitting room, stained glass above the door leading from the hall to what is now an equipped kitchen, Elegant staircase with the decorative glass endpiece still in situ  –  as are fireplaces throughout.
As you enter there is a generous room to your left, double door access, from the hall with a stairwell access that is large enough to house a home office,  Going straight ahead you enter the new kitchen, complete with a dining area, there is also access to the ground floor toilet ….Actually this is one of those rare houses  with excellent “bathroomage ” 3 existing shower rooms , and, if like me , you like an actual bath, it would be simple to re-purpose the smallest of the 4 bedrooms into a luxurious bathroom with all the bells and whistles….
The front bedrooms, one each on 1st and 2nd floor, are each a generous size with original ,fireplaces still in place…this is a huge bonus as you could pop a pellet burner or a wood-burner in using the existent flues without need for Planning Permission as you would not be altering the existing facade or roof line  –  important due the house’s proximity to the Chateau.   The current back bedroom at first floor is the logical one to turn into a bathroom as it is the smallest bedroom, due to space being used for  showers….Or, if you are happy with showers only, it could be a perfectly splendid office …..
Yes, the house needs the new owner to choose colour schemes, but all the preparation work is already done…. at the very top of the house the existing, original loft space is a gloriously blank canvas….. it does need insulating, How you do it will depend on what you want o use this space for…..
Personally, I love the ” edge of village ” location… a minimal walk to the village centre, our one and only Supermarket is seriously close – it a also sells heating materials – has a Laundrette to the rear, and will happily deliver if, like me, there are limits to the amount you can carry – I think that it is a a fabulous  location which is why I live just up the road ….Also, the Supermarket staff are the nicest I’ve ever met…..
Jo and I both feel that this is a very reasonable price for a totally stunning house and I am convinced that this is a serious bargain with the potential to increase value….do come and look at this house.. it’s an utter gem ….
