Minutes from the enchanting village of Saint-Polycarpe ( do look it up on the internet, one of the prettiest villages we’ve seen ) and only 6 km from bustling Limoux with its’ central square ringed with pavement cafes and restaurants and a seriously excellent choice of shops, this property is set in the Mediterranean style countryside that is perfect for grapevine growing.

Hotter and drier than where Jennifer and I both live, you can smell the wild herbs and the gorse as you drive along a country road to the property. From our home village of Chalabre you climb up to the top of the ridge with fabulous views of the Pyrenees in the rear view mirror, then drop down to Limoux with fields and fields of grapevines – most with their rosebush planted at the end of each row and and dotted with cypresses like exclamation marks. The landscape reminds us both of Tuscany, so a trip to the Limoux area is almost like going on holiday. Head for Saint-Polycarpe then turn up to your left, drive through the double wrought iron gates, up the drive and park by the front flower beds in front of the two garages, both seriously large, and could be transformed into living accommodation very, very easily.

This property is a much loved family home – at one point three generations lived here – with lots of space for everyone. This is a large property, stunningly maintained, and the build quality is a joy. As you enter through towards the second set of entrance doors you will see the dedicated, independent apartment on your right where the eldest generation lived.
